Detroit man charged after shots fired at car carrying two women in Royal Oak

A 20-year-old Detroit man is charged with assault and weapons counts after police say he fired shots at a car carrying two women in Royal Oak last month. A 19-year-old Troy woman was also arrested.
No one was hurt in the shooting, which happened Sunday, Sept. 27, near East Fifth Street and Williams Street, according to CBS Detroit and Patch.
What police allege
According to police, the shooting happened shortly before 8:40 p.m. Two women told police they had been in a physical fight with another woman, and as they tried to drive away, a man shot at their vehicle.
The car was damaged, but no one inside was hit, police said. The women reported the shooting at a police station a few blocks away, and investigators recovered several empty shell casings.
Police said the shooting was targeted and that there was no ongoing threat to the community.
"Fortunately, no one was seriously injured or killed," Royal Oak Police Chief Michael Moore said, according to CBS Detroit.
Charges and bond
Rico Decarlos Jones Jr., 20, of Detroit is charged with two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and two counts of felony firearm, CBS Detroit reported.
He was arraigned Thursday, Oct. 2, in 44th District Court in Royal Oak, where bond was set at $100,000. His next hearing is tentatively set for Friday, Oct. 9.
Charges are accusations; Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Second arrest
Royal Oak police and the Troy Police Special Investigations Unit located and arrested two people without further incident, according to CBS Detroit.
The second person arrested was a 19-year-old Troy woman. She was released pending further investigation, and no charges against her have been reported. Police have not described her alleged role.
