Waterford's final three weeks of the football regular season pack in two homecomings and the city's crosstown rivalry.
Mott: homecoming Friday
Waterford Mott hosts Birmingham Groves for homecoming at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9. This year's theme is "Starry Night," according to Waterford School District homecoming pages.
The Corsairs are 3-3 and must win out to reach six wins. Mott lost 47-12 to Harper Woods on Oct. 2 after edging Southfield A&T 17-14 on Sept. 25, according to Oakland Press scoreboards. Groves, 4-2 and 3-1 in the OAA Blue, beat Oak Park 20-18 last week.
Rivalry night Oct. 16
Mott hosts Kettering on Friday, Oct. 16, in the Waterford city rivalry. Mott then finishes Oct. 23 at Troy.
Kettering: homecoming Oct. 23
Kettering, 1-5, hosts Pontiac on Friday before the trip to Mott. The Captains lost a close one last week, 21-19 to Avondale. Kettering closes its regular season at home Oct. 23 against L'Anse Creuse for homecoming, with a parade that day. Homecoming week runs Oct. 19–24 with the theme "A Night in Rio."
