Royal Oak hosts OAA Gold leader Ferndale with league title implications

Royal Oak, 4-2 and third in the OAA Gold, hosts unbeaten-in-league Ferndale on Friday before closing the season against Clawson.

Royal Oak gets its shot at the OAA Gold's top team Friday night.

The Ravens, 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the OAA Gold, host Ferndale at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in a game with league title implications. Royal Oak sits third in the Gold.

Ravens coming off Berkley win

Royal Oak stayed in the league race with a 35-23 win over Berkley on Oct. 2. Quarterback Asher Dean threw for 288 yards, and Braylen Banks had 178 receiving yards, according to the Oakland Press. A week earlier, the Ravens beat Pontiac 41-12.

Ferndale's dominant run

Ferndale, 5-1 overall, has posted four straight league shutouts and clinched at least a share of the OAA Gold with a 62-0 win at Pontiac last week. The Eagles have outscored Gold opponents 234-0, according to the Oakland Press, including a program-record 74-0 win over Avondale on Sept. 25.

Remaining schedule

Royal Oak's Week 8 game on Oct. 16 has not been posted, as with most Oakland Activities Association teams; those games are likely crossover matchups set by final league standings. The Ravens close the regular season at home Oct. 23 against Clawson, which is 5-1 and receiving votes in the AP Division 6 poll.
