Milford, Lakeland meet Oct. 16 in Huron Valley rivalry game

County No. 9 Milford is 5-1 and Lakeland is 1-5 heading into a final stretch that includes their Oct. 16 district rivalry game.

Milford and Lakeland arrive at the final three weeks of the regular season headed in different directions, with their district rivalry game set for Friday, Oct. 16, at Milford.

Milford

The Mavericks are 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the Lakes Valley Conference. Milford is No. 9 in the Oakland Press county rankings and is receiving votes in the Associated Press Division 2 poll.

Milford beat North Farmington 35-8 on Friday, Oct. 2, with touchdown runs from Juliano Iljazi and Hudson Smith and a Smith touchdown pass to Bryce Marszalek. A week earlier, the Mavericks beat Livonia Churchill 46-10.

Milford visits Farmington on Friday, Oct. 9.

Lakeland

The Eagles are 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the Lakes Valley Conference.

Lakeland lost 48-7 to South Lyon on Oct. 2 and 49-14 to Walled Lake Western on Sept. 25, according to the Oakland Press scoreboard.

The Eagles host Livonia Franklin on Friday, Oct. 9, before the trip to Milford, and close at home against unbeaten South Lyon East.

The MHSAA will reveal playoff pairings on Selection Sunday, Oct. 25, at 5 p.m. on the NFHS Network. District games begin Friday, Oct. 30, and the finals are set for Nov. 27–28 at Ford Field.
