Ferndale sets program scoring record, routs Avondale 74-0 on homecoming

Ferndale put up the highest score in program history on homecoming night, beating Avondale 74-0 on Friday, Sept. 25, according to the Oakland Press.
The Eagles led 46-0 after just one quarter.
A first quarter to remember
The Eagles recorded two safeties and returned three punts for touchdowns, with El'Yontae London, Grant Fernandez and Carl Tramble each taking one back.
Quarterback Noah Stallworth threw multiple touchdown passes.
The win kept Ferndale in pole position in the OAA Gold, the Oakland Press reported.
Homecoming celebration
The night carried a "Rio" homecoming theme. Homecoming courts from both Ferndale High School and University High School were recognized at halftime, according to Ferndale Public Schools. The district did not publish the court members' names.

Ferndale visits Pontiac on Friday, Oct. 2, and Royal Oak on Friday, Oct. 9. The Eagles' Week 8 opponent is to be announced, and they close the regular season at Birmingham Groves on Friday, Oct. 23.
Avondale plays Waterford Kettering on Oct. 2 and hosts Berkley on Oct. 9. Its Week 8 opponent is to be announced, and it finishes at home against Swartz Creek on Oct. 23.
The MHSAA will reveal playoff pairings on Selection Sunday, Oct. 25.
