Clarkston won a homecoming-night showdown of OAA Red unbeatens, holding off Oxford 31-28 on Friday, Sept. 25, in front of a crowd of more than 4,900.
The Oakland Press billed it as a matchup of sixth-ranked Clarkston and No. 10 Oxford.
How it happened
Clarkston got scoring from across the roster. Alex Waszczenko ran for a 16-yard touchdown, Ty Duffy scored twice and Wendell Childs Jr. returned an interception for a touchdown, according to the Clarkston News. Julien Mohr added a 38-yard field goal.
Oxford answered through the air. Quarterback Michael King threw touchdown passes of 55 yards to Chris Pullman and 39 yards to Brody Casper.
The win put Clarkston in the driver's seat in the OAA Red, the Oakland Press reported.
Homecoming in Clarkston
The night carried an "Enchanted Forest" homecoming theme, and the homecoming parade was held at 5 p.m. The school did not publish the names of its homecoming court.
What's next
Clarkston, now 5-0, plays West Bloomfield on Friday, Oct. 2. Oxford, now 4-1, plays Rochester Adams the same night.
The Wolves visit Lake Orion on Friday, Oct. 9, then visit Harper Woods on Friday, Oct. 16, and close the regular season at home against Muskegon on Friday, Oct. 23.
