Two Chinese nationals appeared in court in Pontiac on Wednesday, facing charges related to what authorities describe as an investment scam targeting local residents.

According to prosecutors, Yu-Lin Li and Shang-Yi Ko promised quick returns on investments in supercomputers and artificial intelligence. The pair allegedly convinced victims to bring large amounts of cash to invest, arranging multiple meetings in the parking lot of a Novi restaurant during late June.

Investigators say the victims handed over substantial sums of money with the expectation of receiving impressive returns. The case remains under investigation, and both defendants appeared before a judge to answer the charges.
